Resume Writing:

Career Services has many services available to help you prepare your resume. In addition to this information, it is important to understand the potential differences between a resume in the U.S. and a resume in other countries.

1. Start writing your resume early so that you will have one ready when required. You may vary the content to suit the position you are applying for, or to better fit the requirements appropriate for your home country.

2. In the U.S., your resume is considered a way to highlight your best and most unique features and accomplishments. Seek out assistance from Career Services, professors, administrators, and friends as you find the best way to showcase yourself.

3. In some countries, where you went to school (including secondary school) a resume is of primary importance. In the U.S., employers also look at related experience, skills, and demonstrations of your interest in the career field. Resumes in the U.S. list schools from college on, and usually do not include secondary or high school.
